Potty Training Take 2!

I honestly dreaded this day since our last unsuccessful attempt...but, I do realize that our last attempt failed not because Belen wasn't ready but because I wasn't ready. With being in early pregnancy and the complications that were occurring at the time while simultaneously saying good-bye to the babyhood of my first born....just bad timing, pure and simple.

This time I'm a lot more laid back about potting and that translates to less stress for Belen as well. We are still doing the same technique that we worked on last time but I've embraced a reward system that is a bit more appropriate for Belen's age. Treats...she gets 3 Skittles for each successful trip to the potty, or if she is clean and dry at random times when I ask her if she is dry through the day. She even got a treat for waking up last night (3 a.m.) and telling us she went potty. She got a treat for that because she is a solid sleeper and it's difficult for children to wake up at night when the need to go potty.

This morning she was totally dry, despite having played quietly in her room for a good half-hour after waking (she was so quiet I didn't even hear her but I'm assuming she didn't sleep THAT late) and went pee pee in the potty!

Poo poos are a different story...yesterday was a bit of a fiery mess...We got into the potting now..right before we are planning to move, only because Monday morning Belen insisted on wearing her panties...she wanted nothing to do with diapers..even though she really didn't want to go potty on the toilet...so accident after accident I offered her the choice between panties and diapers...(this was NOT a part of the potting method but since we are moving at the end of the week I really didn't want to potty train...so, I left it up to her) without fail she ALWAYS chose panties...so here we are in day two!

The only problem is, she begs for treats all day...she gets treats for staying clean and dry and for using the potty...but she tries to get more treats out of the deal...lil' stinker!
