Born August 18th @ 9:32 a.m.
5 lbs. 10 oz.
18 inches long
Camden spent a couple days under an oxygen tent in the hospital. His weight got down to 5 lbs. 2 oz. and he has some persistent Jaundice but he is doing much better than anyone could have expected.
I don't know the details yet, but there were some problems with the placenta and the umbilical cord that were never caught on ultrasound. From what the doctor told us, most babies with similar placental/cord problems pass away in-utero usually a short time before their due date.
Also, because I'd been in the hospital several times in the weeks preceeding Camden's birth with regular contractions they refused to give me an epidural when I asked for it. They waited until I was 5 cm then tried to contact my doctor whom couldn't be reached! A VERY short time later it was just too late for any medical pain control so I had Camden au natural. NOT something I'd planned nor was I prepared for but in the very end, right before Camden entered this world my contractions started spacing out significantly and he was showing distress so really, it was better I'd not had pain meds as delivery usually takes much longer.
On multiple levels we feel that Camden is our little miracle baby.

Congrats, congrats, congrats! What an amazing story....someone really wanted him here on this earth. You'll have to write about how it is having a boy after a girl! I hope that's what will come our way next!
Congratulations! He is so handsome! I'm glad everything worked out and that he's here safe.
